There are five empires we can learn from. They can be broken down into three groups. The five we look at are the Roman, Islamic, Chinese, Spanish and British Empires. The lessons we learn from their failures and successes is that despite their differences, one thing is common to them all and this commonality has a real lesson for us even if we are less interested in empire building.
