Rubi Castro is a 25 year old classically trained musician who moved, with her mother and brother, to Rincón de la Victoria, Málaga, three years ago from her native South Africa.
Rubi talks candidly about the bullying she suffered at school, her lack of self-confidence and the impact that growing up in Johannesburg has had on her life. As a young adult, Rubi is considering her next career moves, having discovered that opportunities for classical musicians in South Africa are few and far between. From an early age, Rubi has involved herself in volunteering and works regularly for the Red Cross here in Spain. Her self-described empathetic nature has made her realise that, perhaps, using music for therapy and education may well be her future.
