Ep836: ANDHADHUN (2018) - Round Table Review

Published: Dec. 22, 2022, 5 a.m.

Our spotlight on Indian cinema continues with something completely different! We're closing out 2022 on a lighter note than horror and historical dramas, with 2018's Andhadhun!

A series of mysterious events change the life of a blind pianist, who must now report a crime that he should technically know nothing of.

In this year-end spotlight on Indian cinema, Ian, David, and Mark review Sriram Raghavan's bonkers crime dramedy, which had all three critics on the edge of their seats. From truly gasp-worthy twists and turns, to the struggle to find the good in a story packed with criminals , and an ending that recalls Alan Moore's The Killing Joke--Andhadhun is yet another example of how Indian filmmakers can turn stale Hollywood ingredients into an unexpectedly sumptuous experiential feast!

Also, Ian struggles to pronounce the title correctly, and draws some striking parallels to the movie adaptations of Elmore Leonard's novels!
