Port Adelaide Prepare For China AFL Match

Port Adelaide Football Club will leave for China in two waves on Tuesday and Wednesday ahead of an AFL match against the Gold Coast Suns in Shanghai.

Port Adelaide Football Club's head of high performance Darren Burgess told Jodie & Soda they won't be letting players eat food outside of the hotel after an incident with the Socceroos in the 2012 Olympics.

"We lost two players on the morning of a pretty important international...do it can get pretty dangerous but we think we have it pretty covered."

The key to the campaign - as noted by AFL chief executive Gillon McLachlan - is to draw on China capital from the world's second-largest economy to underwrite the club's new growth beyond Alberton.
