Unlike yoga systems that encourage absolute renunciation of the world, Bhakti-yoga considers engagement with the world to be an essential component of our personal spiritual development. This is why, in the Bhagavad-gita, Krishna encourages Arjuna to engage with his enemies rather than leave the battlefield. It\u2019s also why ISKCON\u2019s founder-acarya, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, characterizes the core scripture of the Hare Krishna movement, the \u015ar\u012bmad-Bh\u0101gavatam, in a social context as \u201ca cultural presentation for the re-spiritualization of the entire human society\u201d that can provide \u201ca clue as to how humanity can become one in peace, friendship and prosperity with a common cause.\u201d In this talk, Hari-kirtana das will describe six principal \u2018Vaisnava Values\u2019 and demonstrate how we can translate those values into clearly defined strategies for spiritually uplifting social engagement.
