The PBS Educational Digital Content Asset Repository (EDCAR) is a collaborative effort to aggregate PBS-produced content in order to give teachers and students access to the highest quality media resources in America's preK-12 and post-secondary classrooms and learning environments. The project explores the value of purpose-built digital media objects spanning the full range of pre-school through college curriculum. These assets are high-quality, teacher-tested, digitally-formatted video and audio segments, interactive games and simulations, images and recommended links. Produced by PBS stations & public media partners, these assets will be encoded with metadata according to an "open-standard" schema which will align every asset to a curriculum outline and to state and local standards.
