CALEA Public Forum

The Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) has begun its 5th accreditation process with the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). As part of the process, a public forum was held in Meeting Room A of the Iowa City Public Library for public comment on the Department.

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA) arrived in Iowa City on December 4, 2016, to examine aspects of the ICPD's policy and procedures, management, operations, and services. Verification by the team that the Iowa City Police Department meets the Commission's state-of-the art standards is a part of a voluntary process to maintain accreditation. Accreditation is important to the Iowa City Police Department as it keeps our policies current with the best practices across the United States.
