Paul Jarrett is co-founder/CEO of Bulu and a former Inside Outside podcast co-host. Bulu creates private label subscription box programs for large companies like Disney, GNC, Lululemon, and Crayola. In this episode, Brian Ardinger and Paul discuss new trends in big brand marketing, including getting in front of specific customer segments in new ways.\xa0Paul believes that in this changing marketplace, big companies are willing to collaborate and \u201chorse trade,\u201d but are also focusing on key metrics like customer acquisition costs.\xa0Key highlights include:\n\n\nTell us about Bulu\n1. Bulu is now at 250 FTE and managing revenue of over $50 million.\xa0Challenge is finding the right people to help scale.\xa0\n2. Companies that want a physical interaction with customers are using subscription boxes.\xa0\n\n\nKey factors when working with large brands\n1. People managing the project have to get stuff done, transcend the business, and get along. Bulu won\u2019t work with companies that don\u2019t provide that.\xa0\n2. Companies need to invest in the relationship with a startup for the future.\n\n\nWhen to walk away\n1. Unhealthy focus on driving the price down.\xa0\n2. When a person starts saying \u201cwe\u201d or \u201cus,\u201d Paul feels they\u2019re on the same team.
