Jonathan Majors approaches every performance with a \u201ctabula rasa,\u201d or blank slate, mentality. \u201cYou do so much work creatively, emotionally, physically, spiritually, to prepare for the role,\u201d he says. \u201cBut then when you get there, it\u2019s go time.\u201d And only with a strong foundation of training and life experience\u2014knowing one\u2019s craft and oneself\u2014can \u201cgo time\u201d be achieved on set.\n\nRaised in Texas and discovering theater as a creative outlet while a teenager, Jonathan studied acting at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts and Yale School of Drama. Since his big Hollywood break on the limited series \u201cWhen We Rise,\u201d he\u2019s appeared in films \u201cHostiles,\u201d \u201cWhite Boy Rick,\u201d \u201cOut of Blue,\u201d \u201cCaptive State,\u201d \u201cGully,\u201d \u201cJungleland,\u201d and the award-winning \u201cThe Last Black Man in San Francisco.\u201d This year he starred in Spike Lee\u2019s Netflix film about Black Vietnam war soldiers, \u201cDa 5 Bloods,\u201d and led Misha Green\u2019s HBO horror drama \u201cLovecraft Country\u201d as Atticus \u201cTic\u201d Freeman.
