Jessica Chastain and Oscar Isaac go way back. They\u2019ve reunited several times onscreen since meeting in the halls of the Juilliard School of Drama. Jessica calls acting \u201ca way of getting to know myself on a deeper level.\u201d For Oscar, the approach must be \u201cexpressive and not communicative\u2014not getting too caught up with some idea that I want an audience to feel or to think.\u201d The two reveal to Backstage many of the technical tricks up their sleeves, and provide their fellow artists plenty of inspiration.\n\nJessica, who mounted mini theater productions growing up in Northern California, is two-time Academy Award nominee for \u201cThe Help\u201d and \u201cZero Dark Thirty.\u201d She\u2019s led \u201cThe Tree of Life,\u201d \u201cInterstellar,\u201d \u201cThe Martian,\u201d \u201cMolly\u2019s Game,\u201d Broadway\u2019s \u201cThe Heiress,\u201d and this year, Searchlight Pictures\u2019 \u201cThe Eyes of Tammy Faye,\u201d which she produced with her company Freckle Films.\n\nOscar, born in Guatemala and raised in Miami, acted and performed music onstage before moving to New York. He\u2019s earned awards for his work in \u201cBalibo,\u201d \u201cEx Machina,\u201d \u201cInside Llewyn Davis,\u201d \u201cShow Me a Hero,\u201d the three latest installments of \u201cStar Wars,\u201d and \u201cHamlet\u201d at the Public Theater. This year, he stars in Warner Bros\u2019 \u201cDune\u201d and Focus Features\u2019 \u201cThe Card Counter,\u201d which notched him a Gotham Award nomination.\n\nTogether, Jessica and Oscar have co-starred in the 2014 film \u201cA Most Violent Year\u201d and now lead and executive produce HBO\u2019s critical hit \u201cScenes From a Marriage,\u201d adapted and updated by Hagai Levi from the Ingmar Bergman limited series.
