In this event, Vice-President Maro\u0161 \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d presents the EU\u2019s vision for the implementation of the Protocol on Ireland/Northern Ireland. He also addresses the post-Brexit challenges and opportunities which lie ahead in EU-UK relations in the context of Northern Ireland.\n\nAbout the Speaker:\n\nMaro\u0161 \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d is Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of Interinstitutional Relations and Foresight. He is responsible for the European Union\u2019s relations with the United Kingdom, co-chairing the EU-UK Partnership Council under the Trade and Cooperation Agreement, and the EU-UK Joint Committee for the implementation of the Withdrawal Agreement. He also leads the European Commission\u2019s work on the European Battery Alliance.\n\nFrom 2010-2019, Mr \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d was Vice-President of the European Commission responsible for Interinstitutional Relations and Administration and subsequently the Energy Union. Prior to this, he served as Commissioner for Education, Training, Culture and Youth. Mr \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d previously served as a member of the Slovak diplomatic corps in Zimbabwe and Canada, as Ambassador to Israel, and as Permanent Representative to the EU. Vice-President \u0160ef\u010dovi\u010d holds a PhD in European Law from Comenius University, Bratislava.
