A disorder in which a person has an inflated sense of self-importance. Narcissistic personality disorder is found more commonly in men. The cause is unknown but likely involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. About 1% of the population suffers from it (and for some reason I happen to run into all of them). Symptoms include: grandiosity, callous and unemotional traits, disregard for others' feelings, excessive need for admiration, or social isolation.
