Sometimes these movies and tv shows only highlight the negative Black experiences, and ignore the positive, which then places negative stereotypes on Black people that represent us as subordinates and consistently in pain and suffering. Many TikTok-ers have complained about these movies causing PTSD in the Black community. It also adds to the \u201cWhite Savior\u201d complex (e.g. Hidden Figures) which elevates the representation of White people who \u201cassist\u201d the black protagonists in these movies be relieved of their troubles and reach their freedom.
