Black Wall Street was an affluent black-owned neighborhood in Tulsa, OK, where Black people residing there were considered wealthy even in today's economy, and although there were two airports, 6 families owned their own airplanes. The Tulsa Race Massacre that happened on Black Wall Street was an historical event where a wave of racial violence destroyed that flourishing and affluent African-American community, because they were seen as a threat to white-dominated American capitalism. This episode touches on the specifics of this history in honor of Juneteenth and the BLM movement.
