The View From the Bridge

The lyrics to the songs convey the character of God as they are: Feeling small

When tears are in your eyes

I'll dry them all

I'm on your side

Oh, when times get rough

And friends just can't be found

I will lay me down

Like a bridge over troubled water

God is the only bridge that can carry us over troubled water, the only bridge that can guarantee that the land it carries you to is safe and offers freedom from the shackles of the enemy.

This morning the sermon topic is:  “The View From the Bridge”.  For those who haven’t been saved all their lives, might remember “take to to the bridge” being a tagline in a few of James Brown songs.

I recently learned what the term means to a band and musical composer.  The bridge is an instrumental section that features a new melody or a new rhythmic line.

I want to talk briefly to the saved and unsaved, leaders, followers, the rich and the poor and I proclaim that it's time we take to the bridge. Yes it is time, we as a people, as a society change the melody, the rhythmic line we have been singing, dancing, swaying and living to.
