Spiritual Not Religious?

There is a popular trend on the rise where people are proclaiming to be more spiritual than religious.  And I get it organized religion has become in more ways than it should a spectacle of ungodliness.  But please know these times are no different than the biblical times.

But we don’t want to wear the label of Christian because of the preconceived and sometimes correct negative associations that are affiliated with Christianity.  But we have to remain conscientious that Christianity is not about the people who profess to be Christian but about the God we serve.  Psalm 107:2 tells us "let the redeemed of the Lord say so".

We must also be mindful that there are some pretty clear ways in which religion and spirituality differ. Religion: This is a specific set of organized beliefs and practices, usually shared by a community or group. Spirituality: This is more of an individual practice, and has to do with having a sense of peace and purpose.

Spirituality alone doesn’t seem to be a bad thing to embrace however again church drama existed in the bible nothing we see today wasn’t going on in the bible which is why Ecc 1:9 tells us there is nothing new under the sun.  But with all the craziness that was going on in church in the biblical days God still saw it necessary for churches to maintain existence and believers to come together as Hebrews 10:25 tells us do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, that we remain committed to exhorting one another: and that as time passes and we see the end of days approaching that we do assemble so much more.

When the question arises are you religious? The answer should be no, but I am a Christian.  Religion indicates that you are tied to traditions and practices. Being a Christian means you live committed  to the doctrine of Christ and the Word of God. To claim to be just spiritual leaves the door open to and for too many things, because even Satan has a spirit. Remember
