The Word of God tells us that faith without works is dead.  The work that aligns with our faith includes the efforts put into the preparation.

In 2 Corinthians 3:18, the scripture explains how we can be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord, and as the spirit of the Lord works in us, He elevates us from glory to glory.  

However, we must embrace that every new level of glory requires an element of work and a dynamic of preparation.

We must prepare for the career we desire, and obtain the required education.  

We must prepare for even the marriage we want by denouncing and annihilating a spirit of selfishness and self-centeredness.

Whatever we set our goals on requires preparation, anything that is not worthy of preparing for is likely not worthy of pursuing.
