Saray Khumalo: How she conquered Mt Everest and other mountains in her life

Saray Khumalo\xa0 is a Zambia-born South African explorer and mountaineer. In May 2019, she became the first black African woman to reach the summit of Mount Everest.

At the age of 47, this mother of 2 achieved her personal goal of submitting the highest mountain in the world. But this wasn't her first time. She had tried to conquer Everest three times before and in 2019 she finally succeeded, earning her the title of the first black African women to reach the top of Mt Everest.\xa0
