Many of these studies show that people who stay in these types of relationships suffer from low self esteem, may perceive themselves to be less attractive, or have lower standards. Others believe that it also has to do with people seeing their romantic partners in an unrealistic positive way, or that they consider the alternatives not as desirable.

In the stories that you will hear today these may have been considering factors, but it still hard to believe that a low self esteem would have made these women stand behind their man.
