In 1435 the Hanse can look back at a string of successes. Another war with Denmark won, the patrician regime in L\xfcbeck and elsewhere restored, conflicts with Burgundy and England settled in their favour. But as Winston Churchill once remarked,
\u201cThe problems of victory are more agreeable than those of defeat, but they are no less difficult.\u201d
And these problems are raising their ugly heads\u2026.
