This was the sixth show of the CBS Stan Freberg series that ran for 15 episodes from July 14 to October 20th 1957. Despite its short run the program featured some running gags and stock jokes...including a lot of Freberg's ambivalence toward Madison Avenue with many fake advertisements that made fun of some of the show's possible sponsors. The result was that by the 13th episode the show suffered from a lack of advertising interest. Two cigarette companies offered to sponsor the series, but Freberg turned them down. As a result, no sponsors so CBS cancelled the series after 15 episodes. It was the last network radio show to devote itself purely to comedy. In 1958 "The Best of the Stan Freberg Shows, a recording of collected material from the show, won the first 1959 Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album.
