b'The Jell-o-Show Starring Jack Benny was titled "Old Fashioned Christmas Party. It was originally aired on Dec. 20, 1936. Jack was firmly established on NBC\'s Sunday night schedule at 7 PM(ET). This was also the first season that band leader Phil Harris was a regular - and despite him being identified as Jack\'s "orchestra leader", his studio band was actually arranged and conducted by Mahlon Merrick (who stayed with Jack through the end of his weekly TV series in 1965. The band plays a great number that really swings... "You Can Tell She Comes From Dixie." Check out Jack as "Santa Claus" in this 1936 photo... he looks a little tired, angry, upset... certainly not in a "Ho Ho Ho, mood!"
