Mixing New Orleans Jazz with High Society from New York City on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 PM is what the The Chamber Music Society of Lower Basin St. did from 1940-44, returned in 1950... and had a summer series on Saturday nights in the summer of 1952... all on NBC. Guests included Benny Goodman, Count Basie, W.C. Handy, Bobby Hackett, Lead Belly, Lionel Hampton, Jelly Roll Morton (on this track), Sidney Bechet and Alec Templeton among man other famous names in the jazz world.
