Dinah Shore was only 25 years old when she did this live broadcast for NBC Radio. It was only 14 days after Pearl Harbor and as World War II for the United States began just before the Christmas season, NBC felt to keep the morale up and to help to sell US War Bonds... they would bring stars like Dinah Shore on the air in live broadcasts. She was also working as the regular vocalist on the Eddie Cantor Show at this time. She does an excellent medley of songs on this program... songs that demonstrated her incredible talent. \nShe was ranked #16 of the top 50 television stars of all time. She worked with Benny Goodman and both Jimmy and Tommy Dorsey. She had a string of 80 charted popular hits from 1940-57 and she had a 40 year career on television... musical variety shows, her own talk show... she was often compared with Jo Stafford and Patti Page. Dinah Shore passed away at the age of 77 on February 24, 1994. The photo on this posting is from 1943. This track will be stored in the Christmas Playlist
