The host asking the questions in Tom Howard. The program first aired in 1942 and because of it\'s title "It Pays To Be Ignorant" it was a big risk because the network thought it might be offensive. But people loved it! It ran on CBS and NBC for 9 yrs... ending in 1951. The orchestra that provides "Spike-Jones" like musical interludes was Al Madru and the Esquires and then the "Corncobbers" .
