The program originated from New York City on Nov. 28, 1937. Mrs. Spears has come to see Dr. Christian about the charity bazaar when Miss Homequist the famous Opera singer whom Dr. Christian met four years earlier in Minneapolis, arrives in Rivers End for a rest before her concert season opens. She agrees to perform at the charity bazaar but when a cold and sore throat develop, Susan sees her opportunity to make an impression and begs Dr. Christian to tell Miss Homequist that she must not risk hurting her voice so that she can sing. This series was heard on CBS every Sunday from Nov. 1938 until January, 1950. Jean Hersholt is best remembered for his role in the film "Hedi" as the grandfather.
