Sharon Acoose Ph.D. talks about her experience with addiction, crime, prison and recovery.

Published: Aug. 11, 2021, 8 p.m.

Sharon was born into chaos. Molested from 3 years of age, Sharon grew up thinking it was normal to take money for sexual favors.  On the streets of Regina, SK, Sharon cut her teeth in hard drugs, addiction, prostitution, and crime.  It was easy because mom, dad, and everyone else was doing it.  As the years passed, Sharon was in and out of jail, watching people die all around her, lost to the lifestyle. From hash to heroin, there was nothing Sharon wouldn’t do to escape her reality.  And so, she fell, lost into the pitch black of this insidious disorder we call addiction.

Join us on June 4, 2021, @ 8 pm CST, as Sharon spins us a tale of the unbelievable realities of where this disease took her, and who she met that changed her life. Some of us need our handheld, Sharon needed her ass kicked. And so it was, that Sharon did not give her defects to something bigger than herself.  Instead, Sharon made peace with her demons and found an unbelievable strength in channeling her addict-mind to find a thirst for success and service, not escape.  If ever anyone’s life could be summed up with the words; “fuck it, let's go”, it would be this woman.  Hard Knox Talks is deeply honored and humbled to be chosen as a platform for her to speak her truth, the light and the dark, the struggles and the triumphs, the life and the times, of Doctor Sharon Acoose. Buckle up!!
