My Plan B Was Death: Family Member of Overdose Victim Tells His Story.

Published: May 21, 2022, 11 a.m.

Darren was already struggling with substances when he tragically lost his brother to drug poisoning.

That sent him into the abyss.

“My plan B if I ever got into serious legal trouble was to just kill myself. I didn’t care.”

And despite the dangerous lifestyle and suicide attempts, Darren found his way into a church basement.

“I walked into a meeting, took a white chip. I started crying and said I just wanted to feel happy.”

Tune in this week and listen to Darren #takeofftheblinders around the realities of addiction in the family unit.

We'll talk about what he was like, what happened, and what drove him to accept reality and work within it to find a safer way to live.

“When you get into recovery you are getting rid of a piece of you, that void needs to be filled and I’ve filled it with service to my community.”

We are honored to have Darren share his story with us and learn about what he's doing to give back with his organization 12-Step Road this week right here,

on Hard Knox Talks.

Buckle up!
