Jacqueline Hoffman, CEO of Prairie Sky Recovery Center tells her story and how she advocates for better services in the workplace.

Published: Sept. 17, 2021, 11 a.m.

"I get judged because people don't think I have lived experience."

Jacqueline grew up immersed in recovery, but not detached from the realities of alcoholism.

Her mom put down the bottle when she was 6, it was normal to see church basements.

"I didn't know other kids didn't go to meetings."

As she grew up, her mother instilled the importance of service in her.

"Always look them in the eyes." she was told.

Sponsorship, service, meetings,

"There were always newcomers sleeping on the couch, or anywhere else we could fit them."

Tune in this week and listen to Jacqueline #takeofftheblinders around the true meaning of recovery. She was not protected from the unsavory realities of addiction, rather, she was thrown into the battle against it.

Half measures avail us nothing.

Her whole life, Jacqueline has been groomed by something bigger than her and when her mother became too unwell to continue her work,

Jaqueline was thrust into her true purpose.

Her true meaning.

The sunlight of her soul.

Prairie Sky Recovery Center.

And but by the grace of God she goes.

We are honored to have the CEO of Saskatchewan's only private inpatient treatment center come and share her story. A story of hardship, struggle and overwhelming light right here, on Hard Knox Talks.

Buckle up!
