Childhood trauma, Codependency and Addiction ruled Daina's life, but she found a better way to live.

Published: Aug. 4, 2021, 11 a.m.

Daina's journey into trauma started as early as 4 years old. Being violated at such a young age left Daina feeling incomplete and alone; she started using alcohol and drugs at 12 years old to escape the pain.

Sometimes the world is just too real.

Not knowing what healthy relationships looked like Daina found herself pregnant at 15 and the trauma passed to the next generation.

With no parenting or coping skills, Daina neglected her responsibilities in the name of oblivion. As the years passed, she did find normalcy from time to time, only to return to the insanity at the first sign of trouble;

“Self will run riot”.

Not knowing where to turn, everything finally went quiet for Daina. Screaming silence drove her to a dark basement that wasn't even hers.  Alone is a dangerous place to be when there are no worldly escapes left. In the face of an unbearable reality, Daina was given a loving gift from something bigger than her.

Desperation.

She had to make a choice; Daina was dying.

Join us and listen to Daina #takeofftheblinders around sexual abuse, codependency, addiction, and how she fearlessly reached inside herself to find a new and safer way to think and live. She sees what she went through all around her. It’s still happening, people are dying and she won’t be quiet about it anymore. So, tune in and hear her truth right here, this Friday night, on Hard Knox Talks. Buckle up!!
