The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs usually records high vector
\\n\\npresence, like mosquito and rats during the rainy season and by extension an increase
\\n\\nin vector borne diseases. As a result, Vector Awareness Week is being observed
\\n\\nannually to create that understanding among the populace for the importance of
\\n\\neradicating or minimizing the presence of such vectors in the environment. Vector
\\n\\nAwareness Week which was launched on June 21, 2023 under the theme \\u201cVectors be
\\n\\nGone, Better St. Lucia come along\\u201d, has numerous activities to engage the public and
\\n\\nbuild capacity for reducing vector presence.
\\n\\nThe Environmental Health Division through the Ministry of Health, Wellness and
\\n\\nElderly Affairs therefore invites you to a community fair in observance of Vector
\\n\\nAwareness Week. The fair will be held on Friday July 28 at the Soufriere Bus Terminal
\\n\\nfrom 9:00am to 3:00pm.
\\n\\nRepresentatives from various departments will be present to engage residents on
\\n\\nWater Safety, Food Safety and Vector Control. There will also be blood pressure
\\n\\nchecks and entertainment inclusive of live performances and jazzercise, for those
\\n\\nwishing to burn some calories.
\\n\\nWe are inviting all members of the community to bring their family along to
\\n\\nparticipate and win prizes.
