Update on activities in observance of Vector Awareness Week

The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs usually records high vector

\\n\\n

presence, like mosquito and rats during the rainy season and by extension an increase

\\n\\n

in vector borne diseases. As a result, Vector Awareness Week is being observed

\\n\\n

annually to create that understanding among the populace for the importance of

\\n\\n

eradicating or minimizing the presence of such vectors in the environment. Vector

\\n\\n

Awareness Week which was launched on June 21, 2023 under the theme \\u201cVectors be

\\n\\n

Gone, Better St. Lucia come along\\u201d, has numerous activities to engage the public and

\\n\\n

build capacity for reducing vector presence.

\\n\\n

The Environmental Health Division through the Ministry of Health, Wellness and

\\n\\n

Elderly Affairs therefore invites you to a community fair in observance of Vector

\\n\\n

Awareness Week. The fair will be held on Friday July 28 at the Soufriere Bus Terminal

\\n\\n

from 9:00am to 3:00pm.

\\n\\n

Representatives from various departments will be present to engage residents on

\\n\\n

Water Safety, Food Safety and Vector Control. There will also be blood pressure

\\n\\n

checks and entertainment inclusive of live performances and jazzercise, for those

\\n\\n

wishing to burn some calories.

\\n\\n

We are inviting all members of the community to bring their family along to

\\n\\n

participate and win prizes.
