Over the past decade, Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs)—cardiovascular diseases (diseases of the heart and blood vessels), diabetes, cancer and chronic respiratory diseases like COPD—have been responsible for eight out of 10 adult deaths in Saint Lucia every year.

Added to this, since the COVID-19 pandemic started, researchers have found that high blood pressure and heart disease increase the risk of severe COVID-19. A recent WHO survey found that among people dying of COVID-19 in Italy, 68 percent had high blood pressure.

NCDs are killing us and our loved ones.
