We wish each other a merry Christmas, a joyful Christmas, a peaceful Christmas. But a disruptive Christmas? That might be the last thing we need this December. And yet, whenever God shows up in our world and in our lives, that\u2019s exactly what it is: disruptive. His arrival upends everything. This week we see how God\u2019s arrival disrupts waiting. On the one hand, God\u2019s people don\u2019t need to get his attention. They don\u2019t need to earn his activity. They can simply wait. But that waiting is never met with disappointment. God always acts at just the right time and in just the right way. He came in the flesh at Christmas. He comes to us today in his Word and sacraments. He will come to rescue all who eagerly await his return.
