I will admit that there are many comic books that I have not read over the years because I have been your traditional superhero fan DC, Marvel, some independent stuff but really the most basic of superhero stories. Good guy fights bad guy, good guy wins no collateral damage everyone cheers. The Boys is not that type of superhero show.

***There will be spoilers*** GET OVER IT

First thing let’s set the record straight this series is not for kids, graphic violence, nudity, sexual situations are plastered throughout the show from the beginning and it shocked the mess out of me from the very first moments of the show. I will admit that watching the trailers and previews which were obviously toned down for broadcast really didn’t give me a clue to the level of debauchery (I just wanted to use that word) this show was going to have. Especially since I didn’t know the source material until after I watched the show. The intertwining plot points and a faux Justice League known as the Seven who were more of a mix between the Justice League we know and some of the alternate version who were a lot less noble like the Crime Syndicate or Squadron Supreme. I did the research and read the original source material which was even more disturbing than the show.

But I will focus on the store more than the comic. The Seven had no regard for human life it was all about marketing and making money and personal pleasure. Everything from addiction to a screw it attitudes when it came to saving lives mothing mattered than the all mighty dollar or their own personal agendas.

The Boys were equally off the chain and I really feel they were justified in their actions but when I say they were over the top they were over the top. I mean how would you feel if a super speedster disintegrated your girl all that was left was her hands and forearms as you walked down the street and all that was left was her forearms?

There are many differences from the original DC/Wildstorm/Dynamite entertainment comic book but overall, they stayed true to the intent of the original source material and I will say that is rare for many superhero/comic book translations even on the big screen.
