b"In GBA 278 we get even better acquainted with my dad. We sit down to talk about his working life making documentary films about the coal mining industry and the communities who provided it their labour, and we do touch on that frequently, but we also end up talking about lots and lots of other things. Threading through the conversation are the changes, both physical and mental, that have happened to my dad over the last few years. He's currently 92 so the underlying themes of the conversation are memory, age and death.\\n\\nContent Note: Dementia, old age, death, bereavement, assisted suicide, structural oppression\\n\\nPast dad episodes: https://soundcloud.com/gettingbetteracquainted/sets/the-dad-episodes\\n\\nDad plugs:\\n\\nAndre Gorz: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andr%C3%A9_Gorz\\n\\nCritique of Economic Reason: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Critique-Economic-Reason-Radical-Thinkers/dp/1844676676/\\nReclaiming Work: Beyond the Wage-Based Society: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reclaiming-Work-Beyond-Wage-based-Society/dp/0745621279/\\n\\nFarewell to the Working Class: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Farewell-Working-Class-Post-Industrial-Socialism/dp/0861043642/\\n\\nLetter to D: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Letter-D-Andre-Gorz/dp/0745646778/\\n\\nI plug:\\n\\nThe Family Tree: http://thefamilytreepodcast.co.uk/\\nPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/thefamilytreepodcast\\n\\nWe mention:\\n\\nThatcher: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Thatcher\\nWolfgang Suschitzky: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolfgang_Suschitzky\\nhttps://www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2016/oct/07/wolfgang-suschitzky-obituary\\nData Cooperative: http://www.imdb.com/company/co0302636/\\nBFI: http://www.bfi.org.uk/\\nHarry R\\xe9e: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_R%C3%A9e\\nMy dad and Harry R\\xe9e: \\nhttp://zlistdeadlist.tumblr.com/post/142372305681/s06e5-the-spys-wife-who-loved-me\\nPaul Rotha: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Rotha\\nMy dad's first film: Sabotage, 1942 http://player.bfi.org.uk/film/watch-sabotage-1942/\\nNational Coal Board https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Coal_Board\\nCitizen Kane: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Citizen_Kane\\nOrson Welles: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orson_Welles\\nApples for Everyone: https://soundcloud.com/applesforeveryone\\nSpark London: http://stories.co.uk/\\nGet Carter: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Get_Carter\\nEric: https://soundcloud.com/gettingbetteracquainted/sets/the-eric-episodes\\nThe Tweet:\\nFully Automated Luxury Communism: http://novaramedia.com/2015/06/19/fully-automated-luxury-communism/\\nUniversal Basic Income: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_income\\nPitman Painters: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ashington_Group\\nLee Hall (is the name we were looking for): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Hall_(playwright)\\nPatrick Russell's book: https://he.palgrave.com/page/detail/shadows-of-progress-james-taylor/?sf1=barcode&st1=9781844573226\\nDads Films/Interviews on dvd:\\nhttp://shop.bfi.org.uk/shadows-of-progress-dvd-bluray.html\\nhttp://shop.bfi.org.uk/the-national-coal-board-collection-volume-one-dvd-bluray.html\\nAntony Gormley: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antony_Gormley\\nBilly Elliot: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Elliot\\nPride: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pride_(2014_film)\\nThe Spirit of 45: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Spirit_of_%2745\\nThe iPhone related mineral is Coltan (not Colbalt):\\nhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coltan\\nThe Restart Project: http://therestartproject.org/\\nTheresa May: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theresa_May\\n5 Steps to Tyranny: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hteidPuaIdM\\nHassan Akkad @ Spark: https://www.acast.com/sparklondon/escape-arefuaidspecial-truestorieslive\\nObama: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barack_Obama\\nOrgreave: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Orgreave\\nHillsborough: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hillsborough_disaster\\n\\nHelp more people get better acquainted.
