Selections from three series by\xa0photographer Lucinda Devlin (American, b. 1947) are featured in this exhibition:\xa0Pleasure Ground\xa0(1977\u201390),\xa0Corporal Arenas\xa0(1982\u201398), and\xa0The Omega Suites\xa0(1991\u201397). Best known for The Omega Suites\u2014precisely composed images of execution chambers in the United States\u2014Devlin has devoted her career to exploring the relationship between our bodies and the spaces that they inhabit.\xa0She has concentrated in particular on interiors associated with pleasure or pain, creating photographs that draw attention to the power relationships embedded in a room\u2019s architecture and decor.\xa0At the same time, her photographs function as poignant meditations on the familiar yet extraordinary spaces in which our bodies pass time.
