His uncle was James \u201cJimmy the Clam\u201d Eppolito, a Gambino captain who led gambling and other rackets. \u201cJimmy,\u201d who made his son, James Jr., a family member, had once worked for family boss Carlo Gambino and associated closely with racketeer Carmine Lambordozi.
