Few would argue that one of the greatest indicators of a vibrant spirituality is a deep love for others. A way of life that demonstrates concern for the people around us. But what does that look like? This idea of loving others can conjure images of opening doors or lending money or complimenting someone…actions that put smiles on people’s faces.

Sometimes though, loving actions don’t bring smiles and deep appreciation — at least not immediately. This is because love, sometimes, requires us to confront problematic situations. Situations that are causing hurt or frustration or resentment. Sometimes loving someone requires having an awkward, even difficult conversation.

This kind of love is easy to avoid. To say, “that’s not my problem” or “I don’t need that hassle” or “I don’t want to make things worse”. But there’s no denying that the long-term results of these kinds of conversations, if done right, can be unbelievably loving.

This Sunday, in the first message of our new series “The Fruit of the Spiritual Life”, we’re talking about the art of having an awkward conversation. We hope you’ll join us.
