Why is the South so religious? \xa0 Why is it the Bible Belt? \xa0Do begin to answer that complex question we need to go back to Colonial times before the First Great Awakening. \xa0Dr. Thomas Little\xa0is\xa0associate professor of history at\xa0Emory and Henry College\xa0in Emory, Virginia and the author of\xa0The Origins of Southern Evangelicalism: \xa0Religious Revivalism in the South Carolina Low Country, 1670-1760. \xa0 He spoke with me about the early history of religious revival in the South.
