I met Jane Kinua at the Mediators Beyond Borders International Peace Congress, and was able to connect with the Kinyua sisters about overcoming the history of conflict that shadow Kenya. Jane serves as the Program Manager and Monica serves as the Program Manager for Children Peace Initiative Kenya (CPI). Through their work with CPI, they are able to guide the next generation to bridge communities of Kenya that have been in conflict for many years. \n\nWe delve into the importance of children as bridge builders across ethnic differences, and historical unrest. We put this in context by talking about the history of Kenya and how conflicts from the past continue to affect people today. In this episode we get inspired by the possibility for the work they are doing in Kenya to be applied to divided communities in the United States and the rest of the world.\n\nMediators Beyond Borders: https://mediatorsbeyondborders.org/\nChildren Peace Initiative Kenya: https://cpikenya.org/\nPeace Camp Video: https://youtu.be/RfMu0dYVJYY\nDocumentary: https://youtu.be/ofVseRveFwg\n\tFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/Friendshipforpeace\nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/cpi_kenya/ @ChildrenPeaceInitiativeKenya\nDonate a Heifer: https://www.globalgiving.org/microprojects/donate-50-heifers-and-end-tribal-conflict-in-kenya/#menu\nCPI GoFundMe:\nhttps://www.gofundme.com/f/children-peace-initiative-kenya?utm_source=customer&utm_medium=copy_link-tip&utm_campaign=p_cp+share-sheet\n\nWe talk a lot about the history of Kenya and the current ethnic diversity of the country. \nHere are some good resources to learn about the tribes of Kenya http://www.kenya-advisor.com/tribes-in-kenya.html\nThe history of the country https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_Kenya\nHere is a map of the ethnic distribution of the country. https://images.app.goo.gl/rMghyAxE87K6TWGP7\n\nMore Info at: "Children for a Peaceful Future" with Jane and Monica Kinyua
