Jesus came to earth with a mission, and it was the greatest mission of all mankind. But then, He commissioned us for a mission, and we find that mission in John 14:12.

"Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father."

Jesus is saying that the work of the church is exactly the same as the work He came to do!

The purpose and mission of the church is to do what Jesus did when He lived on earth

If you believe in Jesus, John 14:12 is talking about you. You're supposed to do the works that Jesus did. What does this mean about you personally?

No matter what career you're in, it's not about that, its about what Jesus Christ says you are and what you do for His kingdom.

The Spirit of the LORD is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to
the poor;
He has sent Me
to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to
the blind,
To
set at liberty those who are oppressed;
To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD.”

What Does an Anointed Christian Look Like?

1. What does the word anointed mean?

Anointed - in classical Greek: to pour oil on something, to rub with oil; to appoint to an office.

"...and from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." Revelation 1:5-6

 • God has appointed us to be kings and priests. We are appointed to this work.
 • We need to come into agreement with God and what He says about us and who He says we are. And He says that He has placed us in office as a king and priest in His kingdom.
 • Rise up and be who He has appointed you to be!

“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:18-19

 • God has given us the authority of that appointment
 • He has given us the keys of the kingdom, which equal authority.

"But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness
