Published: Sept. 18, 2020, 5:42 p.m.

Julie Rosenberg talks to us today about her artisan foods marketplace, Julie’s Beet. Her shop carries “culinary gems from around the world” and specifically seeks out brands that we won’t find in the big stores. Her goal is to only sell the best of the best and to inspire people to consciously purchase their food, knowing the story behind it, and relishing in the flavors.

The simple action that we can all take after today's episode is to shop at Julie’s Beet and support artisan chefs and Julie. Five additional simple ideas that Julie shared are:

 1. Keep it local. Seek out foods that are grown in our local area, and are in season.
 2.

 3. Go off the beaten path. Rather than going to Starbucks, find a local coffee shop instead.
 4.

 5. At the Farmer's Market, choose one new thing to try, or tell our kids that we'll let them pick any one new thing to try.
 6.

 7. Have a good olive oil, salt and spice blend on hand at home, and use these to elevate meat or vegetables into artisan foods.
 8.

 9. Take time to read the story behind our food, before we buy it.
