Every year, $408 billion is spent processing, transporting, storing, and disposing of food that never gets eaten. That\u2019s millions of pounds of fresh food\u201424% of all food in the U.S.\u2014going to waste, instead of nourishing the 42 million Americans expected to experience food insecurity in 2021.
