21. Dancing Through the Generations with Alexa White

Much like episode 19, episode 21 holds a soft spot in our hearts in that we sat down with Andrew’s wife Alexa to talk about legacy across dance, family, and - of course - marriage.

From grandmother to mother to daughter, the art of technical dance was destined for Alexa’s bloodstream essentially before her life ever began. As a little girl deeply rooted in Mizzou tradition, she fondly speaks of knowing from a young age that she “wanted to be one of those girls” - an affectionate reference to the sparkly Golden Girls dance squad that has been dazzling the University of Missouri football experience for more than 50 years now. As it turns out, dance is a powerful way to leave a meaningful legacy when shared with the people you love.

In addition to dance talk, we touch on the topics of family, the memory of her Grandma Shirley, how important it is to be present and supportive in the lives of those you care for, and how legacy after marriage becomes a lot more about selflessness and a lot less about individual ambition.

And, on a fun lighter note, we finally hear the wild and unlikely story behind how Andrew and Alexa met, which is chock-full of social media embarrassment, Ryan Gosling memes, and a perfectly timed glass of wine from Les Bourgeois in Rocheport, Missouri. You’ll also be surprised to find out that Alexa tries to pack in an impressive 90+ grams of protein per day to support her own dance, strength, and performance goals - a question we now ask every FinalVibe Podcast guest.
