Audit finds multibillion DoD health care maintenance backlog jeopardizes safety

The Defense Health Agency is supposed to take over the medical treatment facilities from the military services. That'll take two years. Then, it will have a deep hole to dig out of. A recent Defense Department Inspector General report found a nearly $15 billion backlog in maintenance and modernization throughout the 576 hospitals and clinics.
