The largest exchange per volume was hacked yesterday for $40 million dollars approximately 7070 bitcoins in a large security breach. They are paying back all users, it is only 2% of their holdings. They have decided to not roll back the bitcoin blockchain to recoup losses, that would paint permanent damages to cover up a companies errors, has the potential to split bitcoin and the community up and would damage bitcoins credibility. It is VERY important to keep your cryptocurrency on a hardware wallet so you own the private keys and they are not stored on an exchange. This happens very frequently and we need to protect our assets.
