Look lively this week, because we're talking about preserving dead things! We're talkin' formaldehyde.
\n
\n- Fun fact: Formaldehyde comes from form- and -aldehyde
\n- An aldehyde is what we call any carbon molecule with a double-bonded oxygen on its end
\n- Form- is the prefix we often give to organic molecules with one carbon, because:
\n- Formic acid has one carbon
\n- We named formic acid that because ants make formic acid and
\n- Formica is latin for "ant"
\n
\n \n
\n \n- All of which serves as a neat reminder that chemistry naming is real dumb
