Jesus said, "Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." We may not want persecution or look for it, but conflict with the world is inevitable for those who walk with Christ. So how can we possibly experience joy in the midst of being persecuted?
