270: Take Your POWER Back NOW!

With a lot of speaking engagements going on for me right now and in the near future, I\u2019ve had to really stop and observe my anxious tendencies and the thoughts that often go along with them. It\u2019s amazing how powerful our thoughts and inner dialogue can be. Today\u2019s episode is all about freeing yourself from the labels that hold you back and knowing that you\u2019re the only one who has that power to do so.\n \xa0\n How often have you heard, \u201cI have such anxiety when it comes to speaking in front of people\u201d? Hand raised over here because I\u2019ve definitely said it to myself before. But here\u2019s where we change it. We don\u2019t \u201chave\u201d anxiety. We \u201cdo\u201d anxiety. We don\u2019t \u201chave\u201d no energy. We \u201cdo\u201d no energy. And it\u2019s in this doing that we have the choice as to what we do or don\u2019t do. See where I\u2019m going with this?\n \xa0\n I\u2019d like you to do a quick exercise to take back your power. First, write what you \u201chave.\u201d\n \xa0\n \xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0 Example: I have anxiety.\n \xa0\n Now cross that out and write DO instead.\n \xa0\n \xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0 I have anxiety. I DO anxiety.\n \xa0\n Now describe how you \u201cdo\u201d anxiety right now? What actions are supporting this feeling? What thoughts?\n \xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\n \xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0 I\u2019m drinking coffee. I\u2019m checking messages right when I wake up. I\u2019m eating crappy food and isolating myself. I keep telling myself how nervous I am and that \xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0\xa0 I\u2019m going to forget what I\u2019m saying on stage.\n \xa0\n Take notice of the conversation in your mind and watch how you\u2019re talking to yourself. If you\u2019re anxious, reframe and tell yourself how excited you are and why. Replace your thoughts with better thoughts and take your control back!\n \xa0\n No lie, it doesn\u2019t always go fast.
