What are we like in the UK?\u2026We have had two weeks of a heatwave \u2026NOW they are issuing health warnings\u2026\u201dpeople could DIE!! In this unbearable heat!!!\u201d\u2026.employees are threatening to walk out of the workplace if the temperature gets to 30 degrees\u2026\u2026\u2026a month ago we were all complaining about the COLD and worrying about DROWNING with the floods\u2026..I\u2019m waiting for the \u201cDrought Alert\u201d which will happen any time now. I must say it certainly brings out some strange sights on the streets\u2026not pretty ones.\n \nOur fundraising organisation The Cheshire Cats gave \xa3500 to a local kids charity and our \u201cchairman\u201d was invited by the charity to join them on their invite to Prince Charles\u2019s house\u2026This included a tour around the gardens and a two course meal\u2026.for which you had to pay 32 quid\u2026.this plus the train fare and suit hire obviously put him off\u2026...reminded me of my friend Monty Lister being invited to the Queen\u2019s garden party at the Palace\u2026..it bucketed down so Liz and Phil vanished back indoors and left the 3000 guests to brave the blizzard in the Palace Grounds\u2026before returning home on the train soaked to the skin\u2026.er\u2026don\u2019t think ...\n\nThe education system is being changed AGAIN by you-know-who\u2026..11 year olds will now be graded form 1 \u2013 6\u2026and compared to other schoolkids around the country\u2026can\u2019t see the point\u2026the teachers are saying that it will lower the kids confidence and the government are saying it gives the parents a better insight\u2026I don\u2019t know why the MP\u2019s who have NEVER taught just leave it to the teachers who KNOW what they are doing.\n \nThere was a programme on the tele about being ripped off on foreign holidays\u2026.Car hire was one subject whereby you think you have paid in advance for a car but when you go to pick it up there are allsorts of added extras\u2026ie no refund on returned petrol\u2026extra for damage insurance etc\u2026one woman paid an extra 120 euros for a weeks car hire. Also it went on about cruises\u2026whereby when you buy a drink there is service charge and VAT added\u2026and if you travel as a single person you get well and truly ripped off\u2026.but that is the way of the world\u2026and what can you do?.....I recently bought some \u201cExtra Long Life Batteries\u201d from TESCOS..their own brand\u2026.lasted a couple of weeks in my radio\u2026I shall be notifying the customer services and telling them where to stick their batteries very soon.\n \nWe have had the final rehearsal for the James Burton Show this weekend\u2026This show is to celebrate 40 years since the \u201cAloha from Hawaii\u201d which featured Elvis Presley\u2026.James backed Elvis on that show but he was also Ricky Nelson\u2019s guitarist in the 50\u2019s and early 60\u2019s which is what I\u2019ll be doing\u2026.I\u2019m singing 5 Ricky Nelson hits and Roy Orbison\u2019s \u201cPretty Woman\u201d as JB has also backed him\u2026.the band are really good and we all know each other so we should have a good time.
